COACH IN CHINA

How foreign coaches work in China

Clarify the employer, role, registration and work permission before planning an arrival or a first session.

Identify who employs you

Ask for the legal employer, work location, reporting line and written responsibilities. If an intermediary is involved, clarify its role and the organisation where you will coach. Confirm who pays you, supervises the work and handles the employment documentation.

Check professional recognition separately

The AFC Coaching Convention sets a framework for coach education and licences. Ask the employer and relevant association whether the specific role requires registration or recognition. A foreign diploma's title alone does not establish its acceptance for every position in China.

Confirm permission before coaching

A coaching credential does not replace immigration permission. Shenzhen police guidance distinguishes valid employment authorisation from a stay document. Confirm your proposed duties and work location with the employer and responsible authorities before starting work, including any proposed trial or additional assignment.

Plan practical arrival support

Once the authorised route is clear, agree who coordinates documentation, arrival arrangements and workplace induction. Keep relocation assistance tied to the employment process. Guidance and document coordination cannot guarantee a permit, licence recognition, placement or a particular arrival date.
